They are set in this configuration file: /Applications/MAMP/bin/phpMyAdmin/, and they should match what your MySQL server's user and password values are (you can check those on the WebStart page at in the center column, halfway down. You can also manually launch the startup page by clicking on the WebStart icon on the MAMP application as shown below: Launch WebStart Page in MAMP Check on the MAMP Version section to see any updates are available for you. Normally the username is "root" and the password is "root". Whenever you launch MAMP, the start page will automatically popup on default browser client.

MAMP (Mac, Apache, MySQL, PHP) is a free and premium local server environment that can be installed on the macOS and Windows operating systems.
